Santander Brighter Futures Grants open to Birkbeck students
All students are invited to apply for one of ten £1,000 Santander Brighter Futures Grants, designed to help ease financial pressures and support their university experience.
Birkbeck students have the chance to receive a financial boost this autumn, as Santander Universities once again offers Brighter Futures Grants worth £1,000 each.
A total of ten Birkbeck students will be selected at random to receive the award. The grant can be used flexibly to support student life and studies, whether towards living costs, study materials, technology, wellbeing, or professional development.
Abbie Carr, Director of Development and Alumni at Birkbeck, said:
“Birkbeck students have been supported through our partnership with Santander for more than a decade, with the Brighter Futures Grants having a significant impact. The funding from these grants can be put toward whatever will best support the winners’ studies and wellbeing, which is a welcome boost at a time when many students face various financial pressures.”
The scheme is open to all current Birkbeck students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, part-time and full-time learners. Students do not need to be Santander customers to apply.
To enter, students need to register for Santander Open Academy, a free online learning platform, if they haven’t already. Once registered, they need to click the verification link in their confirmation email, then log in and choose ‘Get Started’ to enter the Brighter Futures Grants programme, selecting Birkbeck. Entries need to be submitted by 11pm on 3 December 2026.
