SQE1 Preparation

Module description

This module provides you with a comprehensive education on all of the knowledge and skills competencies required for successful completion of the Solicitor’s Qualifying Examination Part 1 (SQE1).

It covers all of the knowledge you will require for Functioning Legal Knowledge in the SQE1 assessment, including pervasive subjects such as ethics, professional services and accounts. Its aims and outcomes are entirely aligned with the Solicitors Regulation Authority's SQE1 assessment specification.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will have:

  • full understanding of, and the ability to apply in a practical context, the key principles of law and practice comprising the Functioning Legal Knowledge assessment specification of the SQE
  • the problem-solving skills required to effectively answer multiple-choice questions based on short client scenarios in a number of legal contexts
  • the ability to review information under time pressure, identify the relevant information and choose a course of action effectively
  • the ability to provide nuanced client advice based on the best possible strategy in the context of the relevant legal principles in a given situation
  • readiness for the Solicitor’s Qualifying Exam Part 1.
