Module description

In this module we focus on how you can take the knowledge, skills and attitudes you have developed, both inside and outside your studies, into the job market. We offer an end-to-end approach to this by considering the process from initial job search through to onboarding and impact in a new role.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • identify your own strengths and weaknesses in relation to employability skills, knowledge and attributes
  • understand the dynamics of job markets and how these impact on effective job searches
  • critically assess the appropriateness of a range of concepts in the identification of suitable job roles, career paths and individual capabilities
  • make high-quality job applications
  • understand and deploy the skills and attitudes necessary for high-quality performance at interview and assessment centre
  • understand a work environment, how it functions and how you can contribute to it
  • design, plan and compete in the job market
  • understand and demonstrate appropriate professional behaviour
  • apply knowledge, skills and attitudes to foster personal, professional and academic development.
