Module description
In this module we introduce you to theories, policies and practices of leadership and management within health and public health. We will explore change management and transformation within health organisations and systems and their link with policy. We will help you to develop skills in evaluating strategic management approaches in health services and provide you with a grounding in key concepts that will be useful in your future career and further study in population health.

Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- summarise key concepts relevant to leadership and management within health and public health organisations and systems
- evaluate strategic management approaches in health services in planning and delivery
- analyse the link between leadership, governance and organisational and system performance
- apply leadership principles to complex or ‘wicked’ challenges within health and population health
- critically evaluate the link between leadership, governance and organisational and system performance
- discuss the barriers and facilitators of organisational and system change.
