Module description

In this module we explore the theory and practice of international negotiations and conflict resolution. The module is designed for those looking to develop knowledge and practical skills in navigating global conflicts and diplomacy.

First, you will engage with core negotiation theories, explore case studies from current and historical international conflicts, and analyse the role of international institutions in conflict resolution. We then shift focus to hands-on experience, allowing you to work in teams to engage in group-based negotiation simulations. These exercises will test your ability to negotiate, mediate and de-escalate conflicts, offering invaluable practice in real-world scenarios. The module will culminate in a multi-day, immersive simulation of an international negotiation, where you will tackle a contemporary issue in international politics. This final exercise will allow you to apply your newly acquired skills in a complex, high-stakes negotiation environment.
