- Assessment: a three-minute oral presentation (10%), 2000-word qualitative methods essay plus reflection on feedback (40%) and 2000-word quantitative methods essay (50%)
Module description
In this module you will develop the skills required to undertake a research project. The module covers both 'qualitative' and 'quantitative' research methods, and is delivered as a mix of theoretical lectures, workshops and practical sessions, including workshops at the end of the module supporting you as you produce a proposal for your research project. The module content builds on the data analysis skills and knowledge gained in earlier modules and includes:
- research journals, literature reviews and research questions
- semi-structured interviews
- focus group
- visual ethnography
- analysing qualitative data
- research ethics
- data: working with measured data and understanding uncertainties
- frequency distribution and probabilities
- hypothesis testing
- correlation analysis
- regression.
